Substance Use Counseling in Denver

Licensed Addiction Counselor in Denver supporting multiple paths to recovery

Substances serve a purpose. They help us cope, numb, or feel connected — at least for a little while. I believe we can’t ask you to be a human without needs. Substance use is often an attempt to meet those needs, even if the results don’t always work long-term.

My approach to substance use counseling in Denver is grounded in compassion, harm reduction, and meeting you where you are. Whether you want to cut back, quit, or just explore your relationship with substances, I’ll walk alongside you in finding the path that feels right for you.

My Approach: Harm Reduction and Multiple Paths to Recovery

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to substance use. I don’t believe in shame-based approaches or rigid definitions of recovery. Instead, I’ll work with you to:

  • Get clear on what you want your relationship with substances to look like

  • Explore tools to cope if substances need to play a smaller role in your life

  • Identify underlying needs and healthier ways to meet them

  • Build skills and resilience so you feel more grounded day-to-day

I believe strongly in harm reduction and supporting multiple paths to recovery. Together, we’ll focus on what works best for you — not what anyone else says you “should” do.

Beyond Sobriety: What Comes Next?

If you identify as being in recovery and already feel like you’ve got your feet under you, this may be the time to turn toward deeper work. Many of my clients come to me ready to explore:

  • Healing from past traumas that fuel old patterns

  • Building stronger, healthier relationships

  • Clarifying what’s holding them back from the life they want

Doing the hard work of recovery is like mining for gold others may never see. You’ve already unearthed strength and resilience through your journey — now we can use that foundation to take you the rest of the way toward your goals and dreams.

FAQs

Do I have to quit substances completely to work with you?

No. I believe in harm reduction and multiple paths to recovery. You don’t have to commit to sobriety to benefit from counseling. Together, we’ll explore what you want your relationship with substances to look like and work toward goals that feel realistic for you.

What if I’m not sure I want to change my substance use?

That’s okay. Many people come to counseling feeling ambivalent. My role is to help you explore your options, clarify your goals, and support you without judgment — whether that means cutting back, quitting, or finding safer ways to cope.

Do you only provide substance use counseling?

No. Many of my clients come to me for substance use counseling and support with trauma, relationships, or confidence. I provide EMDR and IFS-Informed therapy. If you’re in recovery and ready to focus on other areas of life, we can shift our work toward those goals too.

Do you provide crisis services?

I do not provide crisis services or immediate support outside of session times. If you need urgent help, please visit my Crisis Resources page or call 988.
